The most important thing you can do for your health, the environment, and the innocent animals is to go veggie.
One day a week cut out meat
The goal is to help reduce people's meat consumption worldwide by 15% in order to improve personal health and the health of Mother Earth.
The way to do that is to eat a plant-based diet every Monday.
While Down to Earth sells only meatless products and advocates a vegetarian diet for every day of the week, we wanted to get on board and support this important international movement that's spreading rapidly all over the globe. For a lot of folks, traveling the road to greater health can begin by trying vegetarianism initially for just one day a week. The benefits for you the Earth and the animals allowed to live are enormous.
The tradition of Meatless Mondays began in WWI, when the FDA encouraged the rationing of meat, wheat and other staples to help the war effort. The campaign was relaunched in 2003 as a public health campaign to help individuals reduce their saturated fat intake. This non-profit initiative in association with the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health's Center for a Livable Future is endorsed by over 20 schools of public health.
Down to Earth ALL VEGETARIAN Organic & Natural joined the international “Meatless Monday” movement on Monday April 26th, 2010 and continues to celebrate it every Monday. Customers receive up to 40% off the regular price of selected ALL VEGETARIAN Preferred Brand items as well as other meatless items.
“The idea behind Meatless Mondays is to encourage everyone to go meatless once a week,” explains Mark Fergusson, Down to Earth’s Chief Vegetarian Officer.
“Our goal is to make it easier for everyone to go meatless on Mondays by giving them big savings on great tasting meat alternatives. By eating less meat people can reduce global warming, protect the environment, and improve their health” says Fergusson. “There are only positive benefits to going meatless, with no unwelcome tradeoffs or unintended negative side effects.”
“Participating in Meatless Mondays will help improve your health, help reduce your carbon footprint, and save you money while you do it!”
